Phoenix has spent much of her career at the intersection of education and social services. Prior to joining BHN, she held several positions at Safe Connections during her eight-year tenure there. Most recently, she worked collaboratively with BHN to implement the Show-Me Hope Crisis Counseling Program in the greater St. Louis area. Other past work experiences include prevention education in sexual health and domestic violence, working in shelters, and also with adults with disabilities. Phoenix also has an extensive history of volunteering with several organizations, including Teen Pregnancy Prevention Partnership, Women’s Voices Raised, Black Pride St Louis, Big Brothers Big Sisters, St. Louis Ending Domestic and Sexual Violence Network, and Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), among others. In her spare time, Phoenix hosts themed dinner parties and game nights, gardens, hikes, camps, drums, helps with animal rescue, and spoils her nieces and nephews.
